A museum quality, amazing 1970s silk chiffon, iconic and instantly recognizable, caftan by Hanae Mori. This is everything you look for in a Hanae piece. It has her spectacular custom designed print on feather light silk chiffon and this print is a beautiful brid scene with herons and other birds under the sun and amongst reads and water. The cut has that draped, goddess, flowing feel to it that collectors crave when they look for the best of Hanae's pieces. This is couture on the highest level with everything about the piece done to work with the rest. The inner dress is made of a scarf weight silk and is a simple sheath dress with a easy cut. Over this a floating caftan of printed chiffon wraps and snaps at the neck. Huge "sleeves" are formed by the openings at the sides and each side goes right to the floor. An amazing, once in a life-time find! Excellent, museum quality condition
The inner silk slip dress serves as the lining. It slips on tot wear. It could easily be adjusted for a smaller girl or subbed out for a larger. The caftan overlay closes at the neck with fabric covered snaps. The original owner removed the Hanae tag but her made in Japan signature tag is still present and it is guaranteed Hanae Mori. The slip dress shows some change to color here and there but it presents perfectly once under the overlay. The color is best shown in the close up of the labels
